SUBMISSION OF SUPPLEMENTAL EXAM REQUEST  

Academic Year 2020/2021

• Please be advised that according to the 2020/2021 Academic Calendar, the period for Supplemental Exam for Academic Year 2020/2021 is August 23 – 27, 2021.
• A supplemental exam allows a final year student expecting to complete his/her programme in the current academic year, having failed a course, the opportunity to re-sit an exam.  You must have registered for the course, which must have been previously attempted and a grade “F” earned. 
• Approval to write a supplemental exam must be granted by a Programme Main Assessment Board (PMAB).   If approval is granted, you will be required to pay the fee for the exam, TT$ 250.00 to any First Citizens Bank (FCB) Account # 150-1631......

LIBRARY INITIATIVES DURING UNIVERSITY CLOSURE

In order to continue to provide an effective library service to students while the University to closed, UTT Libraries has effected the initiatives below. 

1. Assistance will be provided to students who require assistance with the use of library electronic resources or for help with information-related questions.  Please contact us at uttlibraries@utt.edu.tt  Please indicate your home campus in your email.
2.  The library will waive all penalties relating to the non-return of library resources on loan to you when due.

We look forward to working with you as we get through this period together.

INCREASE IN STUDENT FEES - UPDATE

On Monday 19^th July 2021, the President and senior academic staff members met with members of the student body to discuss their concerns regarding the increase in student fees from the new academic year 2021/2022.

As a result of these discussions, and further internal discussions, the increase in registration fees has been deferred to September 2022. Please note that as agreed to in the meeting with the student body that the fees will be gradually increased in increments over three (3) years as follows:

• September 2022: Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00)
• September 2023: Nine Hundred Dollars ($900.00)
• September 2024: Twelve Hundred Dollars ($1200.00)

Please note that this fee will be applicable to all students, both new and returning.

In addition, plans for an enhanced Student Aid programme and a flexible payment plan are being developed to assist students.

I express my appreciation and thanks to the members of the Executive Student Guild for their willingness to collaborate with UTT’s management to ensure that the concerns of our valuable stakeholders, our students, are addressed.

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS IN CDB’S VYBZING REGIONAL YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAMME

We’re looking for participants for the Vybzing Regional Youth Outreach Programme, which takes place as part of the agenda for the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). This year Vybzing is being held from June 1-3, 2019 in Trinidad and Tobago under the theme: Youth-Led Innovation; Regional Transformation. (See hand-out for details)

FREE ONLINE COURSE IN BUSINESS STRATEGY

This is an opportunity tap attend a free online crash course in business strategy, specifically Blue Oceans, grappling how Alexa, Amazon’s virtual assistant, came about?

Participants will have access to the crash course on Canvas plus the article on the subject. Note that academics from different fields of study are welcome join and share their take on it as well.

IMPORTANT LIBRARY NOTICE

Resumption of Library Drop Off and Pick Up Service

This is to advise that the Library Drop Off and Pick Up Service resumes from Monday 13th September, 2021 and is available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until further notice.  The service is available to all library users (students/staff) who wish to borrow loanable print books.

Items may be borrowed from and returned to any campus library:

• Exception: RES items - these are to be returned to the library from which they were borrowed and may not be.

Shell NXplorers Programme

1. What is the cost to participate in the programme?

NXplorers is free of charge to all undergraduate students.

2. Do students need anything, in particular, to participate in the programme?

These online workshops require electronic device such as a laptop, cell phone or tablet with a good/stable internet connection.

3. Minimum requirements to participate in the programme

Undergraduate students attending UWI and UTT (no older than 25 years old) can participate and will be required to complete two (2) simple questionnaires administered at the beginning and end of the programme.......

LIBRARY NOTICE

WAIVER OF LIBRARY FINES

All staff and students are advised that all library fines will be waived for resources due from April 30th, 2021 until the University resumes onsite operations.  You will then be given an additional two weeks to return the items.

National Health Research Conference 2021

It is a Call for Abstracts to be presented at the upcoming National Health Research Conference 2021 on Nov 18 and 19, 2021.

The theme for this year's conference is 'Building Research through Resilience in a Pandemic'. The conference organizers are inviting IRB approved research from postgraduate research students and faculty in all health areas.

Please note that research DOES NOT have to be consistent with the theme. All other relevant information is provided in the attached flyer.

The University of Trinidad and Tobago and Ontario Tech University, Canada is inviting applications from post graduate students for the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship (QES) Programme.  The QES programme will allow for academic mobility in Canada for a minimum period of ninety (90) days.

 BACKGROUND OF AWARD

The QES scholarship is made possible to our graduate students through UTT’s established partnership agreement with Ontario Tech University. (see attached for more details)

Distance Learning Masters

We have an exciting new opportunity for students from the Caribbean to study a 2-year, distance learning Master’s with a Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship (QECS). Fiji National University will be hosting an Interdisciplinary Master's in Climate Change Mitigation and Resilience, exclusively for students from the Caribbean. As a distance learning award, this is a new offering which will allow students to become climate change specialists from the comfort of their own home....(see attached for further details)

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Attention:  All International Students – Procedure for Requesting Re-Entry Letters

As the university nears the end of our 2019/2020 1^st Semester Year, we are aware that some of you are travelling home for the vacation period.  As such, upon return to Trinidad and Tobago you would be required to present a letter of re-entry to the immigration officers at the airport.  All requests for re-entry letters must be submitted by Friday 20^th December, 2019 to the International Office at internationaloffice@utt.edu.tt. 

All students are encouraged to submit your requests for re-entry letters at the earliest and to include your date of return to Trinidad.

We wish you a safe and enjoyable vacation and look forward to supporting you in the new academic year.

Guidelines when using the UTT Logo:
