We’re looking for participants for the Vybzing Regional Youth Outreach Programme, which takes place as part of the agenda for the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). Conduct of Classes for the Academic Year 2020/2021
 
Please be informed that all classes at UTT will be conducted in blended mode for the Academic Year 2020/2021, commencing September 1, 2020.
 
Face-to-face sessions will be limited and staggered to maintain a safe environment for staff and students, in keeping with the guidelines of Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
Additionally, no in-person sessions will be offered at UTT O’Meara and UTT Valsayn Campuses. As such, all sessions for Masters in Health Administration, Education, Criminology and Public Safety programmes will be scheduled at UTT Chaguanas Campus.
 
Please note, there will be no face-to-face classes at UTT Tamana facility at this time.

UTT Operations - Academic Year 2020/2021
 
Please be informed of the following, consequent on the announcement by the Honourable Prime Minister on Saturday August 14, 2020, the following will apply to the operations of the University:
 
• There will be no “face-to-face” lectures, tutorials, laboratories and demonstration sessions for the Semester I, in the initial instance;
• All instructional delivery will be via online/remote learning mode;
• Student registration will be completed online;
• Examinations and in-term assessments will also be facilitated online.
 
Trinidad and Tobago, and indeed the world, is facing a once-in-a-century catastrophic, disruptive and dynamically evolving event and hence adjustments will be needed on an ongoing basis. I therefore kindly request your cooperation as we chart the way forward.

The UTTSG is the officially recognized body, which represents Members at The University of
Trinidad and Tobago. In theory and practice, the UTTSG has almost complete autonomy in the running and management of its own affairs and premises with guidance from the office of the Student Development Unit, Student Support Services at The UTT. This includes the ability to employ staff, enter into contracts, hold investment, running and management of our own facilities, finances, and Guild Fees. The UTTSG’s primary function is to support and represent the Membership and fulfill our mission to ‘enhance the student experience’.

Call for Applications: Queen Elizabeth Scholarship (QES) for The University of Trinidad and Tobago – Ontario Tech University Exchange Programme

The University of Trinidad and Tobago and Ontario Tech University, Canada is inviting applications from post graduate students for the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship (QES) Programme.  The QES programme will allow for academic mobility in Canada for a minimum period of ninety (90) days.

 BACKGROUND OF AWARD

The QES scholarship is made possible to our graduate students through UTT’s established partnership agreement with Ontario Tech University. (see attached for more details)

Distance Learning Masters

We have an exciting new opportunity for students from the Caribbean to study a 2-year, distance learning Master’s with a Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship (QECS). Fiji National University will be hosting an Interdisciplinary Master's in Climate Change Mitigation and Resilience, exclusively for students from the Caribbean. You should be aware that only students registered for the course and missed exam (ME) students added to Canvas course shell will be eligible to sit the exams. Students and Instructors should note that all AM exams commence at 9:00 and all PM exams commence at 1:00.....

SUBMISSION OF ACADEMIC APPEAL Semester 2 – 2019/2020

Please be advised that according to the 2019/2020 Academic Calendar, the deadline for Academic Appeal for Semester 2 2019/2020 is July 10, 2020. Students are reminded that as per the Assessment Regulations for Taught Programmes 2018/2019, Clause 9.10 “No appeal shall lie against the academic judgements of lecturing staff or of Assessment Committees.” ....

All formal grade appeal request should be completed by doing the following:

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic as our nation works to minimize the spread of the virus and practices social distancing, the University remains closed at this time.
 
Until the University is reopened, Student Counselling Services (SCS) has had to adjust its normal modes of service delivery to offer Tele-Counselling Services (TCS). This is the practice of delivering counselling and consultation services via technology-assisted media or other electronic means between a counsellor and a student-client who are in two different locations.

ONLINE OPERATIONS

Please be advised that the rest of the semester will continue via online operations. Teaching and assessments will be done primarily through Canvas. Any student who cannot access the internet to facilitate the above please contact their instructors or programme leader to make alternate/suitable arrangements. Instructors have been encouraged to form WhatsApp groups for each class. Other methods of communications may be used.

The intent is to continue and complete the semester so as to minimise the effect of the pandemic by allowing students to continue or complete their studies.

As the University makes the necessary effort in order to avoid delay in students’ progression, you are kindly requested to be in contact with your instructors and programme leaders so that collectively we can ensure any negative impact, due to the pandemic, on your education will be minimised.

  2.  The library will waive all penalties relating to the non-return of library resources on loan to you when due.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Attention:  All International Students – Procedure for Requesting Re-Entry Letters

As the university nears the end of our 2019/2020 1st Semester Year, we are aware that some of you are travelling home for the vacation period.  As such, upon return to Trinidad and Tobago you would be required to present a letter of re-entry to the immigration officers at the airport.  All requests for re-entry letters must be submitted by Friday 20th December, 2019 to the International Office at internationaloffice@utt.edu.tt

All students are encouraged to submit your requests for re-entry letters at the earliest and to include your date of return to Trinidad.

GRADUATION

Postponement of the Presentation of Graduates 2020

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Presentation of Graduates Ceremonies 2020,
which was originally scheduled to take place on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th
November, 2020 have been postponed.
 
The decision to postpone the Ceremonies was made subsequent to a survey conducted
by the University in collaboration with the Student Guild. The results of this survey
indicated that the majority of students preferred a face-to-face ceremony.
 
Notwithstanding the deferred Ceremonies, certificates will be completed and made
available for students’ collection, from December 01, 2020. Graduands are asked to
visit the Student Portal from November 01, 2020 to indicate their preferred method of
receipt of Certificates.
